EUFAWREADY goes to Crete

From 6-12 July 2025, 50 scientists from around the globe gathered in Kolymvari, Crete for the 12th international workshop on molecular biology and genetics of the Lepidoptera. The Lepidoptera is an order of winged animals, including butterflies and moths, and EUFAWREADY’s own fall armyworm.

Organised by Astrid T Groot (University of Amsterdam), Sabine Haenniger (Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology) and Piotr Bebas (University of Varsaw), the workshop aimed at advancing the understanding of the Lepidoptera. It covered a variety of topics from chromosome structure, genome evolution, functional genomics, population genomics, evo-devo and ecology, offering both poster sessions and hands-on-workshops.

EUFAWREADY partner Emmanuelle d'Alençon (INRAE) led a poster presentation introducing the project, its context and mission, as well as the main pillars upon which its objectives reside, such as “learn, detect, manage”.

The program and abstracts are available here. The next session is planned in 2028 at the same place Kolympari, Crete.
